Breakthrough in Coffee Cultivation: MARDI Johor Unveils Three New Liberica Varieties

It is a pleasure to participate in the launch event hosted by the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), Kluang branch, for three new cloned varieties of Liberica coffee beans.

The Johor branch of the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute has successfully developed three new cloned varieties of Liberica coffee beans. Through new production techniques, coffee beans can now be planted and harvested in 8-9 months, compared to the traditional grafting method which took 16 months. It is believed that this advancement can drive the development of the coffee industry in our country and reduce our dependence on imported coffee.

大马农业发展研究院居銮分局成功研发3个克隆新品种赖比瑞亚咖啡豆（Liberica），通过新的生产技术，能加速咖啡豆的种植至8-9个月，比原本16个月的传统嫁接方法来得快，相信能推动我国咖啡行业的发展，减少我国对进口咖啡的依赖。
